The South Carolina National Guard Foundation is proud to be a sponsor of the Fallen Heroes Tree Lighting Ceremony held at the State House each year. Each gold star honors a lost SCNG service member. The ceremony is attended by the South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster and Major General Van McCarty, South Carolina’s Adjutant General.
The holidays can be a very hard time for the loved ones of the fallen service members. Major General McCarty spoke to those attending and said, "We ask all the citizens of the great state of South Carolina to hold these heroes in their thoughts and prayers during the holiday season."
