The last Sunday of September is designated as Gold Star Mothers and Families Day to honor the memory of those sons and daughters who gave their lives for their country while serving in the armed forces.
Guest speaker Mrs. Sue Pollard, Gold Star Mother, addressed attendees at the Governor’s Mansion in Columbia, South Carolina, Sept. 21, 2022, during a special observance honoring Gold Star Mothers and Families. The special observance included a tour of the Governor’s Mansion, the reading of poems, a butterfly release, and reading of the State and Federal Proclamations honoring Gold Star Mothers and Families.
