Updated: Jun 13, 2023

We are pleased to announce that $73,000 was awarded in scholarships to SC National Guard members and their families. On Saturday, June 10 we held the annual Scholarship Luncheon.

Every year, the South Carolina National Guard Foundation (SCNGF) invites SC National Guard member and their families to apply for higher education scholarships. Dianne Rogers, the SCNGF Executive Director, said, "We were so excited with the number of applications received this year. There were so many deserving students, which made it difficult but enjoyable, to select the 2023-2024 SCNGF Scholarship recipients from."

"Our scholarship sponsors help us provide opportunities and meet the needs of these aspiring students. We could not impact the number of lives we do without the generous support of our scholarship sponsors.", Dianne went on to say.

On Saturday, June 10, the annual SCNGF Scholarship Luncheon was held at the Capital City Club atop of the Truist Tower in Columbia, S.C. Cierra Asmond set the mood with her musical performance during the program prelude and meal. Major Mike Hitchcock, President of the SCNGF and Colonel Jeff Heaton, Chief of Staff - SC National Guard, congratulated the recipients while at the same time challenging them to pursue excellence in their education.

The program continued after lunch with two of our recipients as our guest speakers. Faith Price provided insight as to what the scholarship means for her education goals. Neil Maes shared about his life with double Cochlear implants, the challenges he overcame, the accomplishments he has achieved, and the goals he has for the future.

Major Hitchcock and Colonel Heaton, along with our scholarship sponsors, completed the event with the presentation of scholarship certificates and checks to the 2023-2024 selected recipients. Congratulations to all our recipients — we are proud of you!
